Consulting
I’m not a social media consultobot. I don’t have a magic formula for making stuff work - no-one does, really.
But I do have over a dozen years of hands-on experience of planning, building and managing communities, products and social experiences (along with the organisational change planning or training that goes with it) for major media companies and global brands.
Since the mid nineties, as well as working in new media, I’ve enjoyed helping a range of small startups and big corporations, brands and charities to better understand and implement social media, community and participatory web experiences, especially those involving content.
My main areas of expertise and interest are social media including community development and management, consumer/user experience and product strategy, but I’ve also had years of experience of creating compelling content as well as commercial solutions and strategies.
In general, I enjoy working with people and organisations trying to better understand and develop new social media experiences, as well as innovation, community development and product innovation work.
This includes everything from facilitating workshops and giving presentations about key issues, to drinking lots of tea with people and getting creative with whiteboards and diagrams, creating strategies and programmes which help to get an organisation’s culture changing.
With my background in social anthropology and ethnology, plus the experience of a lot of lessons learned the hard way, I can help people identify what they need to do, and why, and help them get started on doing something about it.
If you would like to talk generally about your organisation’s needs, or discuss specific challenges or opportunities, please get in touch.
